ABOUT THE FALCONS

During the 2017 fall season, the falcons improved upon their inaugural year with a record of 12-2, winning the regular season Region 8 conference and runners up in the Region 8 conference tournament. Daytona finished the season ranked 7th in the country in the United Soccer Coaches (USC) Poll and ranked as high as 4th in the NJCAA poll during the course of the season. The Falcons scored 62 goals on the season and allowed only 10 goals. Jones’ team received 4 All-Region 8 first team, 3 All-Region 8 second team awards, Region 8 Goalkeeper of the Year, and she was named Region 8 Coach of the Year for the second year in a row. Kaila Armstrong and Kristian Shores were both named to the USC All-South Region team as well as being named All-American second team and All-American honorable mention respectively. Academically, the Falcons finished with a 3.21 GPA and garnered 5 NJCAA All-Academic Awards.

During the 2016 inaugural fall season, the falcons made quite the wave with a record of 11-3, finishing the season ranked in the Top 20 in the United Soccer Coaches (USC) poll and as runners-up in the Region 8 conference tournament. Daytona scored 51 goals on the season, while allowing only 7 goals against. Her team received 3 All-Region 8 first team, 3 All-Region 8 second-team awards, Region 8 Goalkeeper of the Year, and she was named Region 8 Coach of the Year. Jones also received the USC South Regional Coach of the Year award for her 2016 team’s effort. Two players were named to the NJCAA All-South Region. Academically, the Falcons finished the year with a 3.39 GPA, earning the USC Team Academic and 9 NJCAA All-Academic Awards for GPA’s above 3.6.
